Multilingualism & the UN

MULTILINGUALISM AND THE UNITED NATIONS

There are six official languages of the United Nations: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. The ASD offers classes in five of the UN’s official languages.

An essential factor in harmonious communication among peoples, multilingualism is of very particular importance to the UN. By promoting tolerance, multilingualism also ensures increased participation as well as greater effectiveness and better outcomes. The language programs of the ASD strive to impart these same values of tolerance and harmonious communication to the students. Please come run to show you value and support Anchorage’s linguistic and cultural diversity!
